President Akufo-Addo has affirmed his steadfast commitment to collaborating closely with Senegal's President-elect, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, to "enhance Ghanaian-Senegalese relations."
He believes that this relationship will not only uplift the living standards of both nations' citizens but also advance mutual interests and benefit the broader African community.
In a statement released on Thursday, March 28, President Akufo-Addo extended his heartfelt congratulations to Mr Faye on his resounding victory in the presidential election held on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
He described the win as "well-deserved" and a testament to the trust and confidence placed in Faye's vision for economic transformation.
“I am hopeful that, under his leadership, Senegal will continue on the path of progress and prosperity, and strengthen further her position as a beacon of democracy and stability on the African continent,” part of the statement read.
President Akufo-Addo also commended outgoing President Macky Sall for his contributions to Africa's progress and development.
He praised Mr Sall for overseeing peaceful, credible, and transparent elections in Senegal, which he sees as a demonstration of Sall's unwavering commitment to democratic principles and peaceful electoral processes.
“The elections have been a demonstration of President Macky Sall's steadfast commitment to upholding democratic principles and ensuring a peaceful electoral process. Senegal, West Africa, and, indeed, Africa, are grateful,” he said.
