Sudan assistant coach, Ignatius Osei-Fosu, has declared himself ready for the Black Stars coaching job.
The future of current head coach, Otto Addo, has been uncertain after he failed to qualify Ghana for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations – the first time in over two decades that the Black Stars have missed the tournament.
Osei-Fosu, alongside his boss, Kwasi Appiah, partly accounted for the four-time African champions’ inability to qualify for the AFCON.
Sudan took four points from the Black Stars en route to qualifying for the tournament as the second-placed team in Group F, drawing goalless in Ghana before winning 2-0 in the reverse fixture.
“I think tactically I can be able to do the job because what is a tactical approach? I’m a License A coach, and I can do tactical approach,” the former Medeama and Eleven Wonders coach told 3 Sports.
He added, “But there are other things to the job that have nothing to do with tactics. Sometimes it has everything to do with your human relationship.”
Osei-Fosu, who has been working as Sudan's assistant coach to Kwasi Appiah since September 2023, explained that he still needs to learn more from his boss.
“I think I need to learn more from Kwas Appiah. If he says that, Ignatius, I think you have been with me for one year now. The Black Stars are calling you. I think you are ready to go. Then it's like a master blessing is servant to go and work.
“But for me to take a sole decision and say that, oh, the Black Stars have come, Ignatius can do the job [, no].”
The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association met twice in one week to take a decision on Otto Addo’s future, but both meetings ended inconclusive.
Joy Sports understands the committee will engage other stakeholders further before making a decision on the former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach’s future.
