President Okraku says the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is going to work to put a halt to betting companies putting Ghana Premier League matches on the market as no bookmaker has been licensed to do that.
Matches in Ghana's top flight have been featured on betting sites which has in recent times put the game in disrepute as some games have suffered match-fixing allegations.
Speaking at the GFA's 30th Ordinary Congress, Okraku revealed plans to halt such actions adding that the association’s legal team will be in touch with betting companies in that aspect.
"We have not licensed any betting company to take odds on our games. We are going to empower our legal department to confront this issue head-on. It is not okay for betting companies to feed on our football," he said.
"It is time to say no to such companies. We are open to doing it the legal way. We will invite companies who want to partner with us to speak to us."
Under his administration, a series of match-fixing allegations has hit the league with the one involving AshantiGold and Inter Allies in the 2020/21 being the biggest scandal.
The new Ghana Premier League season is set to commence on September 6.
