Ghana captain Jordan Ayew came back to haunt his Black Stars teammate Kamaldeen Sulemana, scoring a crucial goal in Leicester City’s dominant win over struggling Southampton in the Premier League.
Ayew struck Leicester’s second just before half-time at the King Power Stadium, sealing a commanding first-half performance and leaving Southampton—Kamaldeen's side—reeling yet again.
It was a match many had tipped as Southampton’s chance to finally distance themselves from the all-time Premier League low points record set by Derby County in the 2007/08 season. But once again, the Saints failed to deliver.
With just 11 points on the board all season, Southampton remain firmly on course to match that unwanted record. Even against second-bottom Leicester, they were outplayed, lacked urgency, and showed no cutting edge in attack—an all-too-familiar story for the south coast side.
Interim manager Simon Rusk now looks to their upcoming trip to Everton—winless in their last three games—as perhaps the only realistic chance to snatch the solitary point needed to avoid Derby's fate. But based on their lifeless display against Leicester, even that seems uncertain.
With league leaders Arsenal and a resurgent Manchester City to come, time is running out for Kamaldeen and his teammates to salvage any pride.
