Jordan Ayew will captain the Black Stars when they face Sudan in Omdurman, Khartoum on Tuesday, November 17.
The three selected captains of the senior national are absent due to injury or suspension. Thomas Partey didn’t travel with the squad due to injury, Andre Ayew picked up a muscle strain after the Sudan game last Thursday and Richard Ofori is suspended after picking up a yellow card in the game at Cape Coast.
As a result, head coach Charles Akonnor needed to appoint an interim captain for the Sudan match.
Immediate candidates were Mubarak Wakaso, John Boye and Jordan Ayew who all have more than eight years experience under their belt.
Akonnor went with Jordan Ayew who will be starting his 64th match for the Black Stars in Omdurman.
Ayew has been a regular for the senior national team after making his debut in 2010 against Eswatini.
The Crystal Palace forward has scored 17 goals for the Black Stars and is 11th on the country’s all-time top scorers list.
