Leaders of the Strong Living Fire Church are shocked, a son of the church has been named as the prime suspect in the killing of two policemen.

According to the administrator of the church, the prime suspect, Eric Kojo Duah, is not only a member of Dansoman-based church but the first child of the founder of the church, the late Elizabeth Boateng.

“I don’t know which words to use to describe our late mother. And as you can see, all the guys in this church are on fire for Christ. So for us to say maybe our mother did not train him well is another story.

“Because knowing mama Lizy, she can’t sit down for you to do something which is contrary to what the bible teaches,” Stella Brown, told Joy News’ Maxwell Agbagba.

Kojo Dua is said to be the mastermind behind the attack and killing of Sergeant Michael Dzamesie and Lance Corporal Awal Mohammed, at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region last Wednesday.

The suspect and his armed gang were in an unregistered blue-black Toyota Camry from an area called Kasoa-Vodafone heading towards the Bawjiase road which is a major hideout for robbers.

A 13-year-old girl who witnessed the shooting said Sgt Dzamesie accosted Kojo Dua to arrest him after slapping him.

He told the officer he was taking something from his car but pulled a gun and fired at the police officers.

Sgt Dzamesie died in a nearby grocery shop where he sought refuge after Kojo Duah walked in to shoot him again while Lance Corporal Awal Mohammed who had been shot in the ribs and waist died later at the Police Hospital.

Dua, who went into hiding was arrested Saturday.

Eric Kojo Dua, who was declared wanted by the police was on his way to the Volta Region en route Atimpoku near Akosombo in the Eastern Region when he was nabbed.

According to the information from the police, “policemen detailed on duty at Atimpoku bridge were alerted to arrest occupants of a black Golf car with registration number GW 5972-18 heading towards Volta region”.

Leaders of the Strong Living Fire Church told JoyNews they cannot believe the story as their son was in church the Sunday preceding the Wednesday the crime took place.

According to the church administrator, Dua even offered transportation assistance to some of the elders of the church.

“So we did not see anything unusual about him for us to believe that he can do that,” Stella Brown added

The church leadership believes this is not the time to abandon their son.

“The leadership of the church is going to meet and see how best we can help him since the mother was a founder of the church. We cannot leave him like that,” she told JoyNews.

According to her, the church intends to get him a lawyer and get to understand what happened from the suspect’s perspective.

The church hopes with a lawyer, they can know the whereabouts of the suspect as they have been prevented from knowing where he is.
