Kwasi Kwarteng, Deputy Spokesperson for New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong, has maintained that Mr Agyapong’s presidential ambition is founded on genuine intentions to serve the nation.
Speaking on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Monday, December 15, Mr Kwarteng said Mr Agyapong’s decision is driven by a desire to address the challenges confronting Ghana in a sincere and solutions-oriented manner, rather than to advance any personal agenda.
"Ken does not want to be the president of Ghana just to advance individual purpose, political ambitions and future aspirations. He wants to become the president of Ghana to solve problems, the problems that confront us as a society, the problems of unemployment, the problem of jobs."
He stressed that the flagbearer hopeful is motivated by a commitment to national development and a readiness to confront long-standing socio-economic issues with honesty and resolve.
"His ambition of becoming president stems from the place of genuine concerns to come and solve the problems that confront us as a state. At no point is Ken indeed coming to advance the future ambition of any person or soever," he added.
Mr Kwarteng made the remarks while responding to recent comments by former Member of Parliament for the Dome Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo, insisting that Mr Agyapong’s vision to lead the country is rooted in genuine public service and a clear understanding of the needs of ordinary Ghanaians.
