Augsburg center-back, Patric Pfeiffer, has revealed that his nationality switch from Germany to Ghana is now complete and he is ready to play for the Black Stars.
Two years ago, the Ghana Football Association announced that the 24-year-old was among five players who switched nationality or agreed to play for Ghana.
But it was later disclosed that there was a hitch with his switch. Pfeiffer has not made a Black Stars squad since but has now disclosed that the path is clear for him to represent Ghana at senior level.
“A few weeks ago I was in Ghana and now I have my passport,” the Germany youth international told South African journalists during Augsburg’s pre-season camp in Mpumalanga.
“I hope in September I can get a call-up. I know the coach, Otto Addo because he was the coach of Hamburg in the youth team [where I played].
“I have good contacts with him. I wanted to join the Black Stars before but I didn’t have my passport, but now it’s done and I’m ready.”
Last season, Patric Pfeiffer made just eleven appearances in the Bundesliga because of recurring injuries.
He was born in Hamburg but of Ghanaian descent.
“Yes of course, because this is my motherland, I love Ghana, I love the people, I love the vibe, I love the food,” he added.
“Yes, I was born and raised in Germany but I love Ghana [as well].”
