The Youth wing of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on the youth of Ghana to join them in their #OccupyBoG protest scheduled for Tuesday, October 3.
In a statement signed by the NDC National Youth Organizer, George Opare Addo, he urged the country’s youth “to protest to end the massive corruption and wickedness of this government.”
“The sands of time have shifted, and Tuesday’s protest is not just an event, it’s a call to arms for every young Ghanaian,” he said.
He added that “Tomorrow [Tuesday] is not just another day, it is a rendezvous with destiny. To the young warriors of change, I say; the time for complacency is over! We cannot afford to be silent spectators of the erosion of our future. This is our chance to rise, united and unyielding, against the currents of economic turmoil that threaten to drown our dreams.”
The NDC is demanding the immediate resignation of the governors of the Bank of Ghana for what they describe as gross incompetence leading to the bankruptcy of the Bank of Ghana and its resultant adverse effect on the Ghanaian economy.
The protest is set to commence at the Obra spot and terminate at the Independence Square after a U-turn at the National Lottery Authority.
Nonetheless, the Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has stated that while the caucus disagrees with the decision of the police to stop their #OccupyBoG protest from accessing the precincts of the Bank of Ghana headquarters, they expect the police to allow the leadership and the MPs, to access the central bank and petition the governor.
