The National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s three-member committee investigating alleged vote-buying and inducement during the Ayawaso East parliamentary primary in Greater Accra is expected to complete its work today and present the same to the party.
The panel, appointed by the party’s national leadership, has been tasked with probing claims of financial inducements and other irregularities reported during the highly contested primary.
According to reports, the committee has concluded interviews with candidates, party officials, polling agents, and witnesses and is now finalising its report for submission to the Functional Executive Committee (FEC).
The investigation forms part of the NDC’s efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and fairness in its internal electoral processes ahead of the upcoming by-election.
Party leaders have noted that the committee’s recommendations will guide any disciplinary actions or corrective measures necessary to maintain the integrity of the party’s democratic structures.
The panel saw a change in membership when Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga stepped aside, with former MP and minister Inusah Fuseini taking his place to ensure impartiality.
The final report is expected later today, after which the party will announce its next steps.
The Ayawaso East primary has drawn national attention, with its outcome considered crucial to the NDC’s prospects in the by-election.
