A Deputy Youth Organiser of the NPP USA branch says the party must find means to immediately resolve the issues surrounding Dome Kwabenya MP, Adwoa Safo’s absence from Parliament.
Speaking to JoyNews, Prince Kamal Gumah, who is also aspiring for the party’s National Youth Organiser position, has called for a speedy resolution.
"Nobody in the NPP should think he can hold the NPP in ransom, not Adwoa Sarfo, nobody in the party should think of holding the party in ransom.
"For instance, if Adwoa Sarfo was guilty, if she knows the value of NPP, if she knows what the NPP stands for, she will never hold the party to ransom", he noted.
Two leading members of the NPP, Kennedy Agyepong and Deputy Trade Minister, Michael Okyere Baafi, have all accused the Gender Minister of blackmailing and holding government hostage.
The Assin Central MP is peeved at what he described as the nonchalant behaviour of MP for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo.
Kennedy Agyapong said the action and inaction of his colleague is holding government to ransom, whilst the New Juabeng South MP said the former Deputy Majority Leader’s continuous absence in Parliament is making government business in the chamber difficult.
Managing News Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper, Ben Ephson, has called on the governing party's leadership to take a conclusive decision on the Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo.
Speaking in an interview with Evans Mensah on Top Story on Thursday, the pollster indicated that the continued absence of Adwoa Safo in Parliament poses a huge threat to the party's fortunes.
Mr Ephson said the legislator’s posture should not be condoned and therefore called for her replacement if her conduct persists.
This is, however, a position Prince Kamal Gumah disagrees with. He does not believe the party is guaranteed victory should Adwoa Safo be axed from the party and a by-election held.
"They should do their investigation; if she's capable of doing that, what are the chances of that if we take her out and we do by-election, we will win, we need to put all this on the table and discuss as a party", he stressed.
