A prominent member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Arthur Kennedy, has delivered a strong caution to the party's delegates, urging them to exercise prudence in their choice of a leader for the 2024 general elections.
The US-based physician stressed the significance of selecting an individual who prioritizes the nation's interests and has a track record of positive leadership.
During a discussion on Citi TV on Wednesday, November 1, Dr. Arthur Kennedy advised the delegates not to be swayed by financial incentives, as this could have detrimental consequences for both the New Patriotic Party and the nation as a whole.

"They (delegates) should be looking out for the national interest, rather than who will give them money... They should be looking out for the NPP’s interest, rather than the interest of those who have led the most vibrant political party in sub-Saharan Africa to the edge of bankruptcy and discredit. That is what delegates should be doing."
As the governing party prepares to select its flagbearer this weekend, delegates will decide whether Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Afriyie Akoto, Kennedy Agyapong, or Francis Addai-Nimoh will be on the party's ticket for the 2024 elections.

However, one of the aspirants, Francis Addai-Nimoh, has urged delegates not to vote for a candidate currently holding a government position. He believes that choosing a candidate from the current government could jeopardize the party's chances in the next election.
Addai-Nimoh, positioning himself as an experienced contestant, emphasized the importance of breaking away from this trend, asserting that he, as a candidate not currently part of the ruling government, offers a fresh perspective.
