Incumbent Member of Parliament for the La Dadekotopon Constituency, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, has retained her seat as the NDC's parliamentary candidate in the Constituency.
In a contest against two male contenders, 'Maa Rita', as she is affectionately called polled a total of 1,457 votes to drown her competitors; representing 76.52% of the total valid votes cast.
Her closest contender, Jake Kwei Adjei-Kwei, managed 303 votes; representing 15. 91% of the total valid votes cast; while Nii Armah Ashitey garnered 144 votes; representing 7.56% of the total valid votes.
Speaking to JoyNews on the back of her victory, Rita Odoley Sowah, expressed her profound gratitude to God for granting her victory.
In addition, she thanked the delegates of the party for reposing confidence in her and retaining her as the NDC's parliamentary candidate ahead of the 2024 general election.
Amidst joy and excitement, she reiterated her readiness to work in the interest of her constituents.
In all a total of 2,295 delegates were expected to vote in the elections. However, 1,904 votes were recorded in the parliamentary contest.
Meanwhile, former president, John Dramani Mahama also won the presidential primaries in the constituency, garnering a total of 1,894 votes out of the total valid votes cast.
On the other hand, former mayor of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu, pulled 9 votes to finish second in the race.
