One Chinese national and five Ghanaians have been arrested during an anti-illegal mining raid in the Bayere Agya Forest Reserve in the Amenfi Central District of the Western Region.
The joint taskforce of National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) and police seized four excavators.

They destroyed also several pumping machines and other mining equipment during the operation, which took place late Monday afternoon.
According to officials from the NAIMOS, the raid forms part of a nationwide enforcement drive within designated security zones announced by the government earlier this year.
