Sports Minister-Designate Kofi Adams has vowed to “generate positive energy” among Ghanaians when eventually approved by Parliament.
His appointment was confirmed following the release of the third batch of Ministerial appointments on Tuesday and will now go through vetting by the Appointments Committee.
Kofi is expected to replace Mustafa Ussif, who served as Minister of Sports from 2021 under the New Patriotic Party led by Nana Akufo-Addo.
Sports in Ghana is widely believed to be in decline, mainly caused by inadequate infrastructure and disappointing performances at major tournaments, which have drawn “negative energy” from Ghanaians.
"Every leader must be prepared to face challenges,” the Member of Parliament for Buem Constituency said in an interview with GHOne TV.
“Ghanaians love sports so all you need to do is to bring them closer to it. It is an opportunity to increase their love for sports.
“Ghanaians love it, but that love has been turned into negative energy. Journalists must be engaged on the state of the sports. We should begin to generate positive energy."
