AshantiGold came back from a goal down to beat Great Olympics, Hearts of Oak failed to beat 10-man Elmina Sharks and Kotoko found a way past Liberty Professionals.
Here are the talking points from Ghana Premier League matchday 8
Legon Cities end winless streak
Ahead of matchday 8, a lot of things were not going well for Legon Cities. The Royals were at the bottom of the log with just two goals scored (none from open play).
Bashir Hayford was desperate for a victory and his men delivered on Friday with Asamoah Gyan absent.
Despite going down to 10 men late on, the Accra-based side recorded a 1-0 win over WAFA at the Accra Stadium.
Joseph Adjei stepped up from 12 yards in the 48th minute and slotted it past the opposition goalkeeper.
They are still yet to score a goal from open play (3 penalties). However, Legon Cities can believe again after the result.
Fabio Gama impresses in first Kotoko start
When the transfer window was in session, Asante Kotoko triggered a huge discussion with the acquisition of Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama.
Unfortunately, fitness and work permit issues prevented an early appearance for Gama in the club's jersey. He was handed his first start on Monday and did not disappoint.
The 28-year-old impressed against Liberty Professionals, assisting one goal in a 2-0 victory.
He could have recorded his first goal for the club but the opposition goalkeeper displayed some cat-like reflexes to deny his effort.
It is too early to judge his overall quality. However, his performance should give hope to Kotoko fans.
AshantiGold end away drought to clinch top spot
Before matchday 8 started, AshantiGold had doubters on their away form and rightly so. The Miners were winless on the road, drawing 1-1 with Eleven Wonders and losing 1-0 to Bechem.
A clash against Great Olympics at the Accra Stadium was a tricky one. Fortunately, they came out on top with a 2-1 result despite trailing early on.
The Obuasi-based side are now on top of the table 15 points. They have also developed a comeback reputation.
AshantiGold have picked 12 points from losing positions so far this season, no other team has managed that.
With a lot of games remaining, the Miners will fancy their chances at winning it all.
Fresh energy in stadiums as fans return
After President Akufo-Addo removed the ban on football in September, it was expected that about 25% of stadium capacity will be filled with fans.
But, few days to start of the season in November, the government decided that all games would be played behind closed doors due to the increase in COVID-19 cases.
It came as a blow to clubs and stakeholders as they expected some energy in all venues.
This month, the government reverted to the initial order (25% of stadiums filled by fans), a decision that was well received.
Apart from the motivation fans bring to home players, they also help the club gain some revenue through gate proceeds.
The return of supporters is a step in the right direction for all parties.
Dreams FC start positively under new management
In the previous week, Dreams FC replaced coach Winfred Dormon with Serbian tactician Vladislav Viric after a poor start to the campaign.
The Still Believe boys had recorded just one victory in their last seven games (W1 D3 L3) and slowly moved into the relegation battle.
Viric's first task was to find a way past Ebusua Dwarfs and he came out on top following a 2-0 victory for his team in Dawu.
Percious Boah was the hero on the day. He netted a brace despite starting the game from the bench.
Currently, Dreams FC are 14th with nine points, just two points above the relegation zone.
They are far from safe but their win on Sunday will give them some confidence.
