The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, is advocating for more investment towards the discovery of natural resources in the Volta and Oti Regions.
He believes these regions are endowed with several natural resources that need to be tapped to serve as a medium for job creation.
Mr Jinapor made the call at a meeting with members of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs on Tuesday.
The Damongo MP urged the traditional authorities to assist government by ensuring good governance within their localities.
“The state can go into any land to do business but it must be supported by the Chiefs. In view of this, there is the need for the support and the collaboration of the chiefs and government," he said.
The Minister pledged to see to it that landowners whose lands are found to host minerals are compensated.
He also promised to make sure natural resources hidden in the Volta and Oti Regions are uncovered.
On his part, the Paramount Chief of Avatime Traditional Area, Osie Adza Tekpor VII appealed to the minister to resolve the issue of land encroachment in the area.
