Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Metro Health Inspectors have given the meat shop at the Kaneshie Market an ultimatum to sanitise their environment or risk being shut down.
In an interview with JoyNews, the Senior Environmental Officer, Joseph Asitanga, said most traders could not produce their health certificates.
It came up during an inspection of the market on Wednesday that some of the dealers were selling fresh fish and meat under unhygienic conditions.
The visit is under the Joy Clean Ghana Campaign project between JoyNews and Accra Metropolitan Assembly and is aimed at educating people on hygiene and sound environmental practices in communities and marketplaces.
Mr Asitanga urged them to maintain hygiene while his outfit makes the necessary arrangement to bring laboratory technicians to screen them and issue certificates to those who will pass.
