In the highly anticipated Inter-School Reading School Quiz, Sterling Heights Academy has taken the lead as the top-ranking school in the Qualification Stage.
According to recent statistics released by the organisers, Perbi Cubs, the Asante Mampong-based school, garnered an impressive average of 63.21 points, positioning itself as a formidable force in the reading challenge.
Followed closely are Theorose School and Startrite Schools, with 56.88 and 37.67 points, respectively.
The three-week challenge witnessed these institutions display exceptional dedication to fostering a culture of reading among their pupils.
The points earned by cubs (pupils) contributed to their school's overall ranking and qualification for the main contest.
To keep participants engaged and motivated, a daily top 20 school ranking was published. This transparency allows schools to track their progress and compare their performance against others, fostering healthy competition and encouraging continuous improvement in reading habits.
The criteria for determining the top schools went beyond total reading points; it also took into account the school population.
This fair and inclusive approach ensured that every school, regardless of size, had an equal opportunity to excel and emerge victorious in the competition.
The Inter-School Reading Quiz is the brainchild of Perbi Cubs in partnership with UNESCO’s Accra World Book Capital.
The initiative yearns to promote literacy skills among twenty thousand basic school pupils across the country.
