Karela coach Abubakar Damba has admitted his side were second-best in Saturday’s Ghana Premier League fixture against Hearts of Oak.
Hearts came from behind to secure a 3-1 win at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, in the week 26 fixture.
The visitors took an early lead when Dafie Mumin Mohammed fired home from close range after just four minutes.
However, a brace of goals from Hamza Issa and a long-range effort from Salim Adams completed the turnaround.
In his post-match comments, Damba was full of praise for the Phobians.
"I should be disappointed but...I must say Hearts of Oak were a delight to watch. They played with so much momentum and took their chances and football are all about taking your chances and Hearts of Oak took their chances," he said.
Saturday’s defeat leaves Karela in the relegation zone with 30 points, after 26 matches.
Looking back on the performance, Damba said his side were simply not good enough.
"We did not create enough chances. In as much as we scored the first goal, we went back to sleep. So we did not create enough chances, talk less of converting them."
Karela’s next league match is against 8th-placed Accra Lions at home on Sunday.
