Accra Lions secured their first win of the top-flight season by defeating Nsoatreman 3-1 on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the Legon Sports Stadium.
The Lions had previously lost league matches against Medeama and debutants Vision FC but finally claimed their first victory of the campaign.
Ibrahim Tanko’s men started the game as favourites. In the 5th minute, a brilliant play by young midfielder Remember Boateng set up Setordjie, but Blessing Asuman's final ball went wide.
Salman Faris gave the Lions the lead in the 9th minute, capitalising on a defensive mistake by Nsoatreman.
Pushing for more, the Lions doubled their lead in the 16th minute through Ezekiel Alladoh, who dazzled his way into Nsoatreman’s box before smashing home the second goal, securing a 2-0 advantage by half-time.
The visitors pulled one back in the 47th minute, as striker Abdul Rahman found the back of the net to make it 2-1.
Despite Nsoatreman’s efforts to build momentum, they were unable to find an equaliser, with their attempts proving futile.
Accra Lions extended their lead in the 66th minute when Blessing Asuman pounced on a rebound from an Ezekiel Alladoh strike, making it 3-1.
A determined Accra Lions continued to press for more goals, but Nsoatreman's goalkeeper remained resilient, denying them further scoring opportunities.
The victory lifts Accra Lions to 9th place on the league table with 4 points, while Nsoatreman sit 10th with 3 points.
