Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, has launched an Automated Fire Permit and Certification Management System for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), transitioning from a manual to a digital platform.
This new system streamlines the acquisition of fire permits and certificates, replacing the manual process.
Henry Quartey emphasised that the digital transition marks a significant step forward, replacing the manual system with a more efficient digitised process.
“In a rapidly advancing digital world, Ghana can no longer afford lengthy bureaucratic processes that frustrate rather than facilitate,” he added.
The Minister urged fire officers to fully support the system’s implementation and sustainability. He also commended the Chief Fire Officer and his team for enhancing fire prevention and protection efforts.
He also acknowledged the support of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and its stakeholders for the Ghana National Fire Service.
A speech read on behalf of the Minister for Trade and Industry, K. T. Hammond, emphasised fire safety’s crucial role in fostering a thriving business environment. “Protecting industries from fire hazards, investments, and uninterrupted economic activities is vital,” he stated.
Chief Fire Officer, Julius Kuunuor highlighted the system as a key milestone in GNFS’s digitisation journey, expressing gratitude to stakeholders for their support.
The Automated Fire Permit and Certification Management System demonstrates Ghana’s commitment to prioritising fire safety and fostering a more efficient business environment.
