President Nana Akufo-Addo has declared that Ghana’s railway sector has been revived under his leadership.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 97-kilometre Tema-Mpakadan railway line on Friday, 22nd November, he highlighted this new development as a significant achievement for his administration.
The President emphasized that revitalising the railway sector was a key promise he made to Ghanaians, and he expressed satisfaction in successfully delivering on that commitment.
According to President Akufo-Addo, the completion of the Tema-Mpakadan railway line is a testament to the government's dedication to improving the country’s transportation infrastructure.
He noted that a functional railway system is vital to Ghana's economic growth, as it facilitates trade, enhances connectivity between regions, and reduces congestion on the roads.
He reiterated his administration’s focus on creating a modern and efficient transport network to support Ghana’s development goals.
President Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians to support these initiatives, which he believes will drive the nation towards greater economic progress and stability.
“This historic achievement, the first-ever standard gauge railway line in Ghana, symbolises the bold strides we are making to modernise our transport infrastructure to drive the economic growth of our nation."
“This project has proof of what is possible when vision, commitment and hard work align. As president, I pledged to prioritise the revival and expansion of Ghana’s railway sector and today, we take another giant leap forward in fulfilling that promise,” he stated.
