Berekum Chelsea beat Medeama 2-1 at the Golden City Park on Sunday, courtesy of Zakaria Fuseini’s dramatic 98th-minute winner.
The Blues entered the match eager to finish the first half of the season on a high note, following a disappointing 2-0 defeat to league leaders Gold Stars in their previous outing.
Samuel Boadu's side started the game brightly but failed to capitalize on their early opportunities.
However, midfielder Stephen Amankona broke the deadlock just before halftime, giving Berekum Chelsea the lead in the 47th minute.
The home side maintained their composure in the second half but the visitors finally leveled with Yussif Mubarik scoring in 89th minute for the Mauve and Yellow.
Berekum Chelsea pushed forward in the dying embers of the game in search of the winner and their persistence paid off when defender Zakaria Fuseini struck deep into stoppage time to secure all three points for Chelsea.
The win moves Berekum Chelsea to 10th place on the table with 22 points after the first round of matches in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season. Meanwhile, Medeama sit 7th with 26 points.
