Rayo Vallecano defender Abdul Mumin could miss Ghana's 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar later this month.
The central defender came off in the first half in his side's 1-1 draw against Sevilla in the Spanish La Liga over the weekend.
Mumin, who has been one of Rayo's best players this season, seemed to have sprained his left knee before being forced off the pitch.
There are reports in Spain that the injury could keep him out for the next weeks ahead and possibly out for the rest of the season after initial tests.
"Mumin is still waiting for more specific examinations to be carried out in order to make an accurate diagnosis," said the club's coach Iñigo Pérez.
The centre-back who made his Black Stars debut under Otto Addo looked set to return to the squad for the upcoming games against Chad and Madagascar on March 21 and 24 respectively.
The 26-year-old has two appearances under his belt for the men's senior national team.
