Retired Ghanaian boxer Bukom Banku has shared advice for young people dreaming of following in the footsteps of Ghana’s boxing legends.
Banku, known in real life as Braimah Kamoko, urged aspiring fighters to stay focused, train hard, and remain humble on their journey.
"If you're a boxer, you have to be disciplined," he told Citi Sports.
"No alcohol, no smoking, no womanizing - if you really want to be like Ike Quartey, Azumah Nelson, Bukom Banku, Joshua Clottey, and others who are highly regarded.
‘Forget about women, smoking, and drinking, and listen to your coach - you can become a world champion."
He first gained national recognition after winning a bronze medal in the heavyweight division at the 1999 All-Africa Games held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
His professional rise continued as he claimed the WBO Africa Light Heavyweight title in 2011.
A year later, he followed it up by winning the WBO Africa Cruiserweight title.
