Berekum Chelsea picked up their first victory of the season with a comfortable 2-0 win over Basake Holy Stars at the Golden City Park on Sunday.
The Blues started brightly, dominating the opening half with fluid play and sustained pressure. Their efforts paid off in the 42nd minute, when Prince Anane broke the deadlock to hand the hosts a deserved lead before the break.
Just three minutes into the second half, Haruna Shaibu doubled the advantage with a composed finish, cementing Chelsea’s grip on the game and ending Holy Stars’ hopes of a comeback.
Holy Stars struggled to find their rhythm in attack, managing only a few half-chances that were easily dealt with by the solid Berekum Chelsea backline. The home side remained disciplined and organised defensively to see out the game and claim all three points.
After registering their first win of the campaign, Berekum Chelsea will look to build on this performance when they travel to face league leaders Heart of Lions in their next fixture.
Basake Holy Stars, on the other hand, are still searching for their maiden victory of the season and will aim to bounce back when they host defending champions Bibiani GoldStars in their upcoming match.
