Ghanaian rapper Amerado has disclosed that radio presenter DJ Slim influenced him to engage in a beef with fellow rapper Medikal.
He made the revelation in an interview with NY DJ on BTM Afrika.
According to Amerado, the clash was triggered by an existing banter between DJ Slim and Medikal. He said he was basically called to join the fray by the presenter.
“My beef with Medikal stemmed from a banter he had with DJ Slim. Slim called me to action, and I heeded. At the time, I was just lazing about, so I recorded ‘Medikated Soap’,” he said.
Amerado admitted that he sometimes regrets taking part in the beef, but now sees it as part of his growth in the industry.
“At some point after the release, I felt bad about it, but in music, you don’t count your regrets, so I just brushed over it,” he stated.
He further clarified that he holds Medikal in high regard, despite a recent incident where the Stubborn Academy rapper allegedly disrespected his mother.
“Medikal had never wronged me before, until recently, when he used some derogatory words directed at my mum, which got me angry, but even with that, I have not dissed him. I respect him.”
Amerado recently released his rap tape Against All Odds. He has followed it up with a four track highlife EP, Defy All Odds, and is expected to drop a reggae EP in November 2025.
