Ghanaian defender Maxwell Woledzi has signed a three-year contract with Major League Soccer side Nashville Soccer Club from Norwegian outfit Fredrikstad FK in a deal worth $1.5 million.
The 24-year-old centre-back has committed to a deal running until 2028, with an option for 2029.
Woledzi made 88 appearances across several competitions for Fredrikstad FK, including the Europa League and Conference League qualifiers.
He has won the Norwegian Cup and was named in the league’s Team of the Year. In 2025, he was also voted the club’s Player of the Year.
“Maxwell is a tremendous player and leader who will be a great addition to our club," Nashville SC President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Mike Jacobs said.
"We are excited to be able to add him to our group for the 2026 season.”
Woledzi progressed through the ranks of FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark’s Superliga between 2019 and 2022, making 33 appearances with one goal and one assist for the first team.
In 2022 and 2023, he registered one assist in 13 appearances for Vitória Guimarães SC B in Portugal’s third division.
Away from the pitch, Woledzi established The Hijab Project in Nima, Ghana, in 2018 to support young girls in soccer by removing barriers, providing access to equipment, and creating inclusive opportunities for youth to thrive through sports.
