The Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 election, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed gratitude to members of the 2024 NPP manifesto sub-committee.
At a meeting held at his residence in Accra on Monday, attended by chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, and members of the various committees, Dr Bawumia commended them for putting together a comprehensive policy document that was presented to Ghanaians for the election.
"I want to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to all of you for your dedication and hard work towards putting together such a comprehensive document, which we presented to Ghanaians," Dr Bawumia said.
Despite the outcome of the election, Dr Bawumia told the committee members that he was proud of their work and the transformational policies in the manifesto, which were presented to the people of Ghana for consideration.
Commenting further on the surprising outcome of the election, Dr Bawumia noted that despite various individuals working to present such a comprehensive policy to Ghanaians, the party's fortunes were affected by voter apathy among over two million of its core voters across the country.
"It was as if our people held a meeting across the country and decided they wouldn't go out to vote," Dr Bawumia said.
The Vice President called for a comprehensive post-mortem to understand why such a significant number of party members refused to vote, assuring that extensive research would be conducted by the party as part of the reorganisation process to chart the way forward.
Regarding the 2024 NPP Manifesto, Dr Bawumia urged members of the various manifesto committees not to feel that their efforts were wasted.
"God willing, we will all benefit from this document in the future," he assured.
Also present at the meeting was Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who chaired the Manifesto Committee for the 2024 Bawumia Campaign.
Various party groups have called on Dr Bawumia at his residence, where he has been expressing gratitude and encouraging them to focus on reorganising and rebuilding the NPP to come back stronger.
