A fellow of the Frimpong Manso Institute, Dr Emmanuel Dei-Timi, has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to critically assess the grievances raised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and address them appropriately.

According to him, the commission should operate with transparency to ensure that all parties feel comfortable and assured.

Dr Dei-Timi also urged all political parties, particularly the NDC and New Patriotic Party (NPP), to engage in credible negotiations with an open mind and focus on the country's best interests.

Speaking on JoyNews' The Pulse, Dr Dei-Timi said, "Already, they [EC] have accepted three of their mistakes."

"I do not know how they came by that, but let’s agree that they should take a critical look at the complaints or grievances advanced by the NDC and see how much they can address them. This is what we have come up with—take it and look at it. They should approach these issues from a position of transparency."

Dr Dei-Timi stated that even if the NDC's complaints do not yield immediate results, the matter should still be addressed through negotiation.

He emphasised that the discussion should involve more than just the political parties, incorporating the Intra-Party Advisory Committee and the Peace Council.

Dr Dei-Timi added that, ultimately, it is important for neutral parties—such as the Peace Council and religious organizations—to validate the Electoral Commission's position after reviewing all grievances and reaching a conclusion.

"I think that should be credible enough for all the parties to accept. It cannot be like a marriage where one party insists on their position without considering the other party's position. In that sense, we will not have a peaceful election."
