The head coach of Young Apostles FC Abdul Rahim Bashiru has conceded that Hearts of Oak outperformed his team in their recent encounter, which ended in a 2-0 loss for the Apostles.
Bashiru attributed the defeat to his team's inability to execute their game plan, inadequate player performance, and a lack of good luck.
"In an encounter, you need three things, to execute the game plan very well, good player performance, and a little bit of luck, and today we didn't have one of these," he said during the post-match press conference.
Despite the loss, Bashiru acknowledged Hearts' superiority, stating, "Hearts of Oak were better. They had decent chances to score two more goals, so I think we have to go back and prepare very well."
Looking ahead to their next league match against Accra Lions, Bashiru expressed his team's determination to secure three points.
"Of course [we expect] nothing but the three points. We're going back home to work hard. And because our target is to stay in the league, we are not going to lift up our foot off the pedal," he continued.
Currently sitting 11th in the GPL table after 20 matches, Young Apostles will be aiming to continue their fight for survival with a crucial win against Accra Lions.
