The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, John Dumelo, has stepped in to pay the outstanding fees of a visually impaired law student at the Ghana School of Law, Makola.
The student, who had been facing the possibility of deferral due to unpaid fees, received a lifeline after Mr Dumelo's timely intervention.
According to a post made by John Dumelo on X, the student had reached out to him through a mutual friend, explaining the dire situation.
Visually impaired law student Gabriel Selasie Doe reached out to me through a friend to help him pay the remainder of his GHS 10,400 fees after he had to sell his laptop earlier. By God’s grace I have fully paid his fees and also money to and get his laptop back. #idey4u pic.twitter.com/ROUBC7V8Ha

The student was at risk of being deferred from the law programme because they could not afford to settle the remaining fees, which amounted to ¢10,400.
Recognising the gravity of the situation, Mr Dumelo took swift action to cover the fees, ensuring the student's continued education.

The law student, who had already overcome significant challenges due to their visual impairment, was facing the added pressure of potentially losing a year of study.
Dumelo’s support has been described as a lifeline, giving the student the opportunity to continue their studies without further disruption.
The NDC PC's gesture has been widely praised, not only for providing immediate financial relief but also for demonstrating his commitment to supporting education and uplifting individuals in difficult circumstances.
