Police in the Juaboso District of the Western North Region have taken into custody a 55-year-old man suspected of stabbing a family member in both eyes with a pair of scissors during a domestic altercation at Sefwi Abrokofe.
The suspect, identified as William Gyamfi, also known locally as Kwasi Manso, is alleged to have attacked the victim, Akua Agyeiwaa, who is believed to be in her early 50s, following a personal disagreement.
The assault left the woman critically injured, and she was rushed to the Juaboso Government Hospital for emergency care.
According to police reports, a community patrol responded swiftly to a complaint and apprehended Gyamfi, who had sustained injuries himself after being confronted by some residents.
At the time of arrest, he reportedly had a swollen left eye, a laceration on his forehead, and bleeding on his left leg. He was treated at the Juaboso Government Hospital before being discharged.
Authorities confirm that Gyamfi remains in police custody and is cooperating with investigators.
Meanwhile, some locals allege that the suspect has a history of violent behaviour, citing a previous attack on his brother-in-law with a cutlass.
Residents of Sefwi Abrokofe have urged law enforcement to thoroughly investigate the case and ensure that justice is served, emphasising that holding the suspect accountable could help deter similar acts of domestic violence in the community.
