The General Secretary of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Nana Yaa Akyempim Jantuah, has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of treating Ghanaians as "political playboys" for their personal interest.
She dismissed Finance Minister Amin Adam's recent apology as insincere, saying it was merely a tactic to win votes and "break the eight."
Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show on August 12, she said,” When you wrong somebody and you need something from that person and you go and apologise, it means it is not real. It is orchestrated. They have sat down and thought about it.”
“These NPP people, they treat us as political playboys where they meet you and tell you things they don’t even mean. When you meet a playboy he tells you things he doesn’t mean. He just wants to woo you. That is what they are doing. They want to break the eight for their own selfish means."
“We are saying we don’t want them. They should go. Why don’t they want to go? What is it that they are saying that they are going to break the eight? You apologised because you have done something wrong. You don’t apologise in a vacuum,” she said.
Mrs Jantuah, argued that the apology cannot rectify the economic issues or address the suffering of those affected by the policies of the current administration.
“Can you apologise for the old people who have died because you have taken their money and you were not able to give it to them? An old doctor died. He was on dialysis. He couldn’t pay so he died. Can you apologise for that?”
"It is even an insult for them to say they are apologising. What they will do to satisfy our heart is to just go quietly and not try to orchestrate or manipulate the electoral process. Thy have hurt us so deeply. We can forgive them but we cannot forget. Apologising doesn’t mean we will vote for them. I wouldn’t even say they are incompetent. Their feet is quick to do evil,” she said.
