The Director of Operations at the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Engineer Emmanuel Tetteh Akini, has stated that power supply in the Volta Region has remained largely stable in recent times.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Monday, 5th May, Engineer Akini indicated that while some parts of the national capital, Accra, and other regions are experiencing low voltage and intermittent outages – widely referred to as dumsor – the Volta Region has seen notable improvements in its electricity distribution.
"It is possible that somebody may have a low voltage, and I think that this should be a localised issue, but so far as Volta in its entirety is concerned, we have been able to improve on the voltages because we went round to check at all our various sub-stations, we saw that the voltages are now within the acceptable limits" he said, adding that GRIDCo in collaboration with ECG undertook maintenance works in the Volta and North Volta areas recently.
He assured the public that the ECG remains committed to ensuring reliable service across all operational areas and urged residents in the region to promptly report any issues to the company for swift rectification.
"But if somebody is complaining, we need to go deep down to find out if it is a localise issue and then we deal with it, and we will be glad if such people will call us, but so far as we are concerned, generally we have been able to improve on voltage levels in the Volta region" he added.
His remarks come at a time when parts of Accra and several other areas across the country have been grappling with recurring power outages attributed to system instability and low voltage.
