The Ghana Police Service has assured that it will not shield anyone found culpable in perpetrating violence during the just ended voters' registration exercise.
This comes on the wake of concerns raised by a cross-section of the general public about pockets of chaos that were recorded during the exercise which left two people dead.
"In due course, you'll have the results of what has happened. Nobody is shielding anybody," the police said.
The National Peace Council in a statement on August 17, urged the security agencies to collaborate with the Electoral Commission to bring the suspects to book.
Speaking to JoyNews after the launch of legal education on the prosecution of electoral-related offences for selected police officers, Director-General of Police - Legal, Kofi Boakye said investigations are underway and at the appropriate time updates will be provided.
"The Electoral task force chaired by the IGP is now doing the assessment. They asked a committee to do that and they are yet to present their report to the IGP," he said.
The Council also encouraged the police to "institute a platform that will regularly inform the public about the progress of such ongoing investigation."
The police, however, says the public must "have faith in the police" adding that the service is working assiduously to bring justice in the matter.
"The Police is very much interested and we have prioritised the prosecution of electoral offenses as part and parcel of our role to manage the country's elections and make it successful".
