Member of Parliament for New Edubiase, Adams Abdul-Salam, has assured that the incoming National Democrats Congress (NDC) government will ensure the Black Stars qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) for the first time in 20 years after finishing bottom of Group F alongside Angola, Sudan and Niger with three points.
Despite the Black Stars' abysmal performances in the Afcon qualifiers, Otto Addo's side sit second in Group I in the 2026 World Cup qualification after four games with nine points.
Speaking on Asempa Ultimate Sports Show, Abdul-Salam said the president-elect, John Mahama, is determined to ensure the Black Stars secure qualification for the global showpiece which will be hosted in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
"President-elect, John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government are determined to ensure the Black Stars will qualify for the 2026 World Cup," he said.
"We did not qualify for the 2025 Afcon tournament but we will work closely with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) by providing them with the needed logistics to ensure the teams get qualification. It is our biggest objective to ensure the Black Stars qualify for the tournament."
Mahama was declared the winner of the 2024 general elections on Monday, December 9.
The Black Stars will play their next game against Chad on March 17 2026, before facing Madagascar on March 24, 2025.
