Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS), Koforidua, will represent the Eastern region at the zonal stage of the 2023 Onga Cook Art Competition after a strong showing at the preliminary contest.
Ghanass locked horns with five other schools drawn from the region.
The first round was tough for all schools. Krobo Girls SHS led with 36 points, one point shy of their closest contender, Ghana Senior High School. Oyoko Methodist SHS also followed with 32 points.
Meanwhile, Nkwakwa SHS and Suhum Presby SHS secured 31 and 30 points, respectively, with Aburi Presby Sec Tech at the bottom with 28 points.
After the first round (orals), it was time to separate the best from the pack.

Contestants had two hours to show the judges their culinary prowess as they were tasked with preparing a meal for two using leftover dishes.
After inspecting each table, the Director of Culture at the Ghana Education Service, Benedicta Yevu, applauded the creativity of the contestants.
She, however, urged tutors to pay particular attention to the requirements of the question posed by the organisers to ensure contestants did not deviate.

Upon collating the final scores, Ghana Senior High School ended the contest with 78.5 per cent.
Krobo Girls SHS lost their dominance by just 1.5 points.
Aburi Presby Sec Tech managed to score 77 points; Nkwakwa SHS followed with 73.
Suhum Presby SHS had 70.5 per cent, and Oyoko Methodist SHS had 69 per cent.
Ghana Senior High School's victory secures them a spot in the zonal level of the 2023 Onga Cook Art, where they will lock horns with Central Regional champion Apam SHS, Fiaseman SHS from the Western Regional, and Chemu SHS from the Greater Accra Region.
Each participant received souvenirs from the lead sponsor, Onga.
