The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appointed Prof Mike Oquaye to chair the party’s Vetting Committee for its flagbearership contest.
The decision was taken on Tuesday, May 30, by the National Steering Committee of the party on behalf of the National Council.

A press statement issued on Friday, June 30, by the General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua Frimpong made this known.

According to the release, this was in accordance with Article 10(3)(F)(ii) of the NPP’s constitution.
Mr Kodua has subsequently inaugurated the committee. While at that, he urged the members to respect the party’s constitution and be transparent their dealings.

The New Patriotic Party will elect a flagbearer ahead of the 2024 elections on November 4, 2023.
However, due to the numbers, the party will call a Special Congress on August 26, to prune it down to five.
So far, 10 persons have filed their nomination forms to contest for the position.
