St Augustine’s College have emerged as champions of the Central Regional Table Tennis competition after a commanding 3-0 win over rivals Mfantsipim School in the final.
The Cape Coast-based school, popularly known as Augusco, delivered a flawless team performance, with standout victories from Ebenezer Borketey, Justice Quayson, and Derrick Ashebge.
Their efforts sealed the school’s place at the top of the region’s table tennis hierarchy.
In the decisive game, Derrick Ashebge overcame Mfantsipim’s Simon Osei in a thrilling contest, winning by two sets to one. His resilience and skill under pressure proved crucial in wrapping up the contest in Augusco's favour.
The tournament saw fierce competition among the best schools in the Central Region, but Augusco’s focus and consistency gave them the edge when it mattered most.
Their 3-0 sweep in the final was a statement of intent and supremacy.
Ashebge’s exceptional performance throughout the tournament did not go unnoticed, as he was named the overall Best Player of the competition.
His recognition capped off a memorable day for St Augustine’s College and their passionate supporters.
