Anglican Senior High School, Kumasi, has secured its place in the One-Eighth Stage of the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) after dominating Shama SHS and debutants Namong SHTS at the CNC Auditorium.

The contest began on a competitive note, with Anglican SHS quickly establishing a comfortable lead after the opening round.

Anglican SHS posted 25 points, ahead of Shama SHS with 19 points, while first-timers Namong SHTS had 9 points.

The Kumasi-based school extended its advantage in the Speed Race, taking charge by ringing the bell first on the opening two questions and answering both correctly.

Despite the fast-paced round, the schools struggled with several of the questions, with many of the attempted answers proving incorrect.

At the end of Round Two, Anglican SHS had stretched its lead to 37 points, while Shama SHS stood at 14 points and Namong SHTS at 6 points.

The Problem of the Day saw Anglican SHS maintain its advantage with 7 points, followed by Namong SHTS with 6 points and Shama SHS with 4 points.

Anglican SHS continued its dominance in Round Three, increasing its tally to 44 points, while Namong SHTS moved to 12 points and Shama SHS to 18 points.

By Round Four, Anglican SHS had reached 57 points, with Namong SHTS on 28 points and Shama SHS on 25 points.

The contest ended with Anglican SHS firmly in front on 69 points, securing the coveted One-Eighth Stage ticket.

Namong SHTS, despite finishing third, had a memorable debut, showcasing remarkable composure in the True or False round by answering all the questions correctly to earn the Clean Sheet Award.

Anglican SHS also swept the riddles, answering all the riddles correctly to claim the GOIL Riddle Bonanza Award.

The result sees Anglican SHS advance to the One-Eighth Stage, while Namong SHTS leave the competition with an impressive first appearance and a Clean Sheet Award to show for their efforts.
