Presidential staffer Nana Yaa Jantuah has predicted a heavy defeat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2028 general elections, insisting that any candidate who contests on the party’s ticket will lose decisively.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme on Thursday, January 22, she argued that the NPP is still reeling from its loss in the 2024 elections and is not in a position to mount a credible comeback.

“The biggest opposition party in Ghana should not be taking part in the upcoming elections. The aftershocks of the 2024 elections are still affecting them, making it difficult for them to focus. Instead, they should take the time to rebuild their party. It would be more strategic for them to field candidates for Parliament rather than for the presidency in 2028,” she said.

Nana Yaa Jantuah highlighted improvements in the current economic situation under President John Mahama, citing lower fuel prices and her own experience filling her car for as little as GH¢200.

She also praised President Mahama’s performance, noting that he has been recognised with the Kwame Nkrumah Leadership Award in West Africa.

“In light of the current challenges within the NPP, they are unlikely to succeed. Many Ghanaians see the party as still facing internal difficulties. Meanwhile, the situation in the country is improving; petrol prices have decreased, and President Mahama has even received the Kwame Nkrumah Leadership Award for his commendable work in West Africa,” she stated.
