Owner and bankroller of Heart of Lions, Dr. Randy Abbey, has set his sights on clinching the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title, with just three games remaining in the season.
The Kpando-based side currently sit third on the league table with 54 points, trailing leaders Nations FC by only three points.
Speaking to 3Sports, Dr. Abbey, who also serves on the Ghana Football Association’s Executive Council, revealed the club’s ambition to not only secure their first-ever league title but also earn a spot in next season’s CAF Champions League.
“I would want to win the league for the first time and also play in Africa [CAF Champions League],” he stated.
Heart of Lions face a tough run-in, with three away fixtures and just one home match left in their campaign.
Despite the challenge, Dr. Abbey expressed pride in the team’s performance.
“For all the teams in the title race, we arguably have the most difficult schedule. Before the last four games, we had three away and only one at home,” he said.
“I’m pushing the boys and I’m proud of what they’ve achieved so far.”
“If we win the league, I’ll be the happiest man on earth. But even if we don’t, I’m impressed with the progress we’ve made and confident we can build on this in the coming seasons.”
Heart of Lions continue their title push with an away clash against Young Apostles on Matchday 32 at the Wenchi Sports Stadium this Sunday.
They will then host Bechem United before ending the season with a potentially decisive fixture away to Nations FC.
