Police in Esiama have launched a full-scale investigation following a violent armed robbery at a gold buying shop in Teleku Bokazo, which left two shop attendants injured, one suspect dead, and another in custody.
The incident, according to a press release by the Police occurred on 30th July 2025 at approximately 5:30 p.m., when police received a distress call reporting that six armed men wielding AK-47 rifles and machetes had attacked the premises.
A police patrol team promptly responded to the scene and was informed that the assailants had fled in the direction of the Salman Community.


Officers pursued the suspects, leading to a gunfire exchange. During the chase, one of the suspected robbers, later identified as Abdul Rahman, 34, was critically wounded.
Before succumbing to his injuries at St Martin De Porres Hospital in Eikwe, he named Mohammed and other accomplices.

Rahman’s body has since been deposited at the hospital morgue.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the robbers stormed the gold shop, firing shots and attacking attendants with machetes.

Police later visited the hospital and found two injured victims: Samuel Applah, 29, who sustained machete wounds to his right thigh, and Kiamena Nketiah, 45, who was shot in both thighs. Both victims are currently receiving treatment.

Acting on intelligence gathered from Rahman’s confession, police on 1st August 2025 arrested Mohammed Adamu, 25. He is currently in custody assisting with investigations.

A search of the area where the suspects had fled uncovered seven spent AK-47 shells, five live AK-47 rounds, two used BB cartridges, an empty 88 cartridge case, and two motorbike keys hidden in nearby bushes.

The Western Regional Police Command has assured the public that a manhunt is underway for the remaining suspects.
