The Sixth Region is set to open this year’s Kwahu Easter celebrations with a major diaspora-focused business and cultural expo along the Labadi Beach coast in Accra from April 1 to 5, 2026.

The event, dubbed the Sixth Region Industry Leaders Expo, will serve as the official opening activity of the AWE Festival – Easter in Ghana, bringing together diaspora leaders, cultural delegates, and entrepreneurs from the United States and other parts of the world.

Organisers say the expo will mark Day One of the festival, after which participants will travel to the Eastern Region to take part in the popular Kwahu Easter festivities.

Speaking ahead of the event, AWE x Kwahu Easter Festival Host, Vincent Kwakye, said the initiative is designed to deepen cultural and economic ties between Ghanaians at home and in the diaspora.

“This is our moment, and the Kwahu people are ready to welcome the Sixth Region of Africa home,” he said.

“An urban music festival featuring the world’s biggest artists, a comedy show that celebrates African culture, and a whole lotta currency being exchanged between leaders of the diaspora and the fastest-growing region of Ghana.”

A major highlight of the opening expo will be the Black Star Stage, which will showcase Sixth Region cultural influencers through music and creative expression.

The programme will also feature a special “Welcome to Memphis” performance stage, presenting a curated lineup of entertainers from Memphis and Shelby County in Tennessee, including musicians, comedians, and dancers.

Organisers say admission to the Welcome to Memphis stage will be free and offered on a first-come basis, with the full list of performers expected to be announced on February 15.

After the Accra opening, official delegates will move to Kwahu, where they will engage with local communities, small businesses, and traditional leaders during the Easter period.

Co-host Danielle Inez, an American business development consultant and former chief of staff, described the initiative as an opportunity to connect local entrepreneurs with international partners.

“I can’t wait to introduce Kwahu’s residents and small business owners to some of America’s most helpful, down-to-earth, and relentless leaders,” she said. “You are going to fall in love with my hometown.”

The AWE Festival forms part of broader efforts to strengthen diaspora engagement, tourism, and investment in Ghana, building on initiatives such as the Year of Return and Beyond the Return campaigns.

Kwahu Easter, one of Ghana’s biggest annual tourism and cultural events, attracts thousands of visitors each year and serves as a platform for business networking, paragliding activities, and traditional celebrations.
