The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on students and young people to model their activism on the late PV Victor Obeng’s approach.
According to John Dramani Mahama, such activism should be measured, reasonable, and academically focused.
He said this when he graced the occasion as the guest of honor at a public lecture commemorating the 10th anniversary of Ing. Paul Victor Obeng’s passing, held in Kumasi.
"Student activism is good but must be borne out of conviction and must be measured and reasonable," he said on Friday, August 10, 2024.
The former President highlighted key principles and qualities that Ghanaians, especially students, can learn from Obeng’s legacy.
Mr Mahama noted that PV Obeng led many student actions with a balance of reason and respect.
He believes that these qualities are essential for students who wish to engage in meaningful activism.
