The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a one-week ultimatum to the Electoral Commission (EC) to take action on their petition calling for a forensic audit of the voter registration process.
The National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, announced that if the EC does not respond within this period, the party will escalate its efforts with a series of protests aimed at pressuring the Commission to ensure transparency.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Top Story on September 17, Mr Gyamfi indicated that these protests would extend to the EC’s district offices across the country.
“We have decided to wait for just a week to see how they would respond. It is our expectation that they would do the needful because clearly, the intransigent they are displaying is not in the interest of Ghanaians,” he noted.

He stressed that the NDC is a law-abiding political party and would use peaceful and constitutional means to express its dissatisfaction.
"What you saw today is just the tip of the iceberg... we are not going to pick guns, fight anybody. We are a law-abiding political party so we will do what the constitution of Ghana allows us to do thus to protest,” he added.

He also questioned the EC's refusal to allow a forensic audit, suggesting that such resistance indicates the possibility of something amiss.
He argued that if the EC had nothing to hide, they should embrace the call for an audit as an opportunity to prove their transparency and be vindicated.
