A woman lost her life on Saturday, December 16, 2023, after she was ‘accidentally’ hit by a stray bullet during a police anti-robbery operation at Pigfarm, a suburb of Accra.
The police in a statement noted that the said lady was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
The deceased’s body has since been deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The police explained that the anti-robbery operation was “targeted at arresting a criminal gang linked to a number of robberies,” adding that they arrested two of the gang members, and the operation is still ongoing to get the remaining members arrested.
On the back of this development, the leadership of the Ghana Police Service commiserated with the bereaved family assuring them of their support.
“The Police with a deep sense of sadness have commiserated with the family of a lady who lost her life during an anti-robbery operation conducted at Pigfarm, a suburb of Accra,” portions of the statement noted.
“Once again, we wish to express our sincerest and deepest condolences to the bereaved family.”
